If information on energy consumption is available at device level, it is possible to identify whether a device is on or off. However, information on performance can also be derived. This can be used to detect faults, for example. This data can also be used to create usage models that can be broken down into different systems. This data can be used for numerous other applications, from the calculation of flexibilities (as shiftable and non-shiftable loads) to the modeling and calibration of individual devices.
